Gift Shop Associate and Receptionist
Report to Director of Museum Operations
Part-time position, work hours based on needs
Minimum $14 per hour Salary: commensurate with education and experience
*IAMA gift shop seeks to reflect the artwork and mission of the museum. A Shop Associate greets guests and answers questions that guests may have. If unable to answer questions, refers guests to the Director or the Director’s designee for further assistance.
*Researches and explores online for quality merchandise sourced from around the world or locally. Identifies merchandise for orders.
*Receives deliveries of merchandise; enters information onto POS; clears away merchandise after items are filled in the gift shop; collapses and removes shipping boxes.
*Keeps accurate store inventories; handles merchandise sales and input into POS.
*Manages and organizes sales of merchandise with consignment vendors.
*Organizes and keeps the gift shop clean and appealing to museum guests at all times. Daily duties include: dusting at least every other day; keeping windows clean; cleaning store front every day; refilling cleaning supplies when supplies run low; organizing and cleaning the cash desk; organizing merchandise on the floor and the stock closets.
*Cover Front Desk, greet guests, and answer questions.
Handles memberships and donations. Enters data; prepares membership cards and sends thank-you letters.
Inputs visitors’ email addresses onto Mail Chimp for newsletter dissemination.
Performs office routines such as: answering phones, checking voicemail, taking messages and redirecting calls, checking store email daily.
Covers staff breaks.
Other duties as assigned.
